14OZ HEAVYWEIGHT DENIM – 100% COTTON – 2 COLOURWAYS – 182cm WIDE
14OZ HEAVYWEIGHT DENIM – 100% COTTON – 2 COLOURWAYS – 182cm WIDE
all prices are per metre, orders of more than 1 metre will be supplied in a continuous length.
A proper heavyweight 14oz cotton denim with a classic twill weave, substantial handle and an extra-wide 182cm width.
This is the sturdy stuff – a strong, structured denim with plenty of body, ideal when you want a fabric that will hold its shape and stand up to regular wear.
Available in two classic colourways: Black and Blue. The Black has the traditional contrasting pale reverse you expect from denim, while the Blue is a deep classic indigo-style denim shade.
At approximately 14oz / 475gsm, this is firmly in our heavyweight category and is particularly well suited to jeans, workwear, jackets, bags and other projects where strength and durability matter.
The generous 182cm width also gives you considerably more fabric across the width than standard-width denim, which can be particularly useful when laying out larger garment pattern pieces.

Sewing & Care Notes
• Pre-wash before cutting and sewing
• Wash separately for the first few washes as excess dye may transfer
• Dark denim may continue to release some colour with washing and wear
• Machine wash at 30°C
• Wash inside out where possible
• Medium to hot iron if required
• A denim/jeans needle is strongly recommended
• Use a longer stitch length when topstitching
• Take extra care when sewing through multiple layers and bulky seams
• Check that your sewing machine is suitable for heavyweight fabrics
• Cotton denim may shrink slightly on its first wash
• Pre-washing will also begin the natural softening process of the denim
New To Denim?
Denim is a strong woven cotton fabric traditionally constructed using a twill weave, which creates its characteristic diagonal texture.
The heavier the denim, the more substantial and structured it generally becomes. At approximately 14oz / 475gsm, this is a heavyweight denim designed for durable garments and projects rather than lightweight shirts or softly draping clothing.
Denim also changes with use. Washing and wearing gradually softens the fabric and can create natural fading and character over time.
