GALLEONS – PRINTED POLYESTER SATIN FABRIC – 148cm WIDE
GALLEONS – PRINTED POLYESTER SATIN FABRIC – 148cm WIDE
all prices are per metre, orders of more than 1 metre will be supplied in a continuous length.
A dramatic printed satin featuring traditional sailing galleons travelling through a wonderfully atmospheric, stormy sky.
The detailed ships have warm cream and golden sails with rich brown hulls, set against swirling clouds in smoky mauve, dusky purple, blue-grey and flashes of soft blue. The almost painterly background gives the design real depth and makes this much more than a simple novelty ship print.
Printed onto a lightweight polyester satin, the fabric has a beautifully smooth surface with a soft sheen that catches the light as it moves. It has a fluid, flowing drape, making it particularly striking for garments where the fabric can move freely.
The combination of historic sailing ships, stormy skies and the lustrous satin finish gives this fabric a wonderfully theatrical feel – ideal for statement garments, costumes and creative projects.

New To Satin?
Satin refers to the way a fabric is woven rather than the fibre it is made from. Its weave creates the characteristically smooth surface and beautiful sheen that catches the light as the fabric moves.
This polyester satin is lightweight with a soft, fluid drape, making it particularly suited to garments such as dresses, blouses, skirts, robes and scarves as well as costume making and decorative projects.
Satin can be a little more slippery to sew than fabrics such as cotton, so taking your time when cutting and using plenty of fine pins or clips can make it much easier to handle.
