An incredibly eye-catching metallic stretch fabric covered in a bold abstract squiggle design in vivid pink, purple, turquoise blue, green, red, orange and gold.

The metallic surface catches the light dramatically, so the appearance changes as the fabric moves. Flat, the individual colours and abstract shapes are easy to see; gathered, twisted or moving, they become flashes of intense jewel-bright metallic colour.

It has stretch in both directions, with noticeably greater stretch across the width, making it particularly suited to dancewear, performance costumes and other projects designed to move with the body.

At approximately 210gsm, it has enough substance to feel reassuring rather than flimsy while remaining flexible and drapey – a fabulous choice when the whole point of the project is to be noticed.

Sewing & Care Notes

• Pre-wash before sewing

• Cool gentle wash recommended

• Wash inside out

• Avoid high heat

• Do not iron directly onto the metallic surface

• A stretch or ballpoint needle is recommended

• Polyester or stretch thread can be used depending on the project

• A stretch stitch, narrow zigzag or overlocker is recommended for seams that need to stretch

• Clips may be preferable to pins where possible

• Metallic finishes can be sensitive to repeated friction and heat, so handle with care

New To Stretch Dancewear Fabrics?

Stretch performance fabrics are designed to move with the body rather than restricting it.

This particular fabric stretches in both directions but has considerably more give in one direction than the other. When cutting fitted garments, check the direction of greatest stretch before positioning your pattern pieces – generally you'll want the greatest stretch running around the body.

Metallic finishes also behave differently from ordinary printed fabrics. The reflective surface means folds, movement and lighting can dramatically change the way the colours appear, which is exactly what makes fabrics like this so effective for dance, stage and performance clothing.
