The main calendar features a wonderfully nostalgic Christmas scene of Santa flying through a snowy night sky in his sleigh, pulled by reindeer above a snow-covered village. Below the scene is a striking patchwork-style calendar design in rich festive reds, deep burgundy, gold and white, decorated with an assortment of intricate snowflakes.

The panel includes 24 separately printed numbered pieces from 1–24, designed to be cut out and positioned over the corresponding numbered spaces on the main calendar to create individual advent pockets.

Four larger coordinating snowflake squares are also included on the panel and can be incorporated into your finished project as decorative details.

Once completed, the 24 pockets can be filled with chocolates, sweets, notes, small toys or little Christmas surprises and reused every December.

How To Make The Advent Calendar

This panel does not include printed manufacturer's instructions, but the layout of the panel indicates that the 24 separately printed numbered pieces are designed to correspond with the numbered positions on the main calendar.

A simple method of construction would be:

• Cut out each of the 24 numbered pocket pieces, leaving sufficient fabric around the printed design for seam allowances.

• Match each numbered piece to the corresponding number printed on the main calendar.

• Turn the raw edges of each pocket piece to the wrong side and press.

• Leave the upper edge of each pocket open.

• Position each pocket over its matching numbered square on the main calendar.

• Stitch around the sides and bottom of each pocket, leaving the top open.

• Repeat until all 24 pockets have been attached.

• Add flat quilt batting or wadding behind the main calendar if you would like a padded finish.

• Add your own coordinating backing fabric.

• Finish the outer edges neatly by turning, binding or using your preferred method.

• Add hanging loops, a casing, dowel or another suitable hanging method at the top.

The four larger snowflake squares can be used as optional decorative elements, appliqué details or incorporated into other coordinating Christmas projects.
